Asylum Caravan

alright, so what is the deal with the thousands coming to the states right at election time seeking asylum?

i'm not up on this, usually try not to be, but how can this not be manipulative?

it's either manipulative in the size of the group and pressure that creates, or in where it started or who started this, etc.

Good Morning! Today we were taking a few minutes to try to encourage our neighbors. Many people are concerned with the caravans of immigrants. Some say it’s wrong for them to force their way into our country. Others say we should help them because there are lots of women and children that need help.
What do you think? -------Wait for response.
Did you know the bible tells us that these types of conditions would exist in our time and people would be in fear of the things coming upon the earth, not knowing a way out?
But the bible also tells us that very soon Jehovah, the God of the Bible is going to intervene in man’s affairs and solve all the world’s problems.

I never understood how my parents got sucked into the Watchtower religion until now.

I look at my parents and they aren’t dumb. My dad raised me, provided a place for us to live, paid all the bills, worked his ass off faithfully for years, and sometimes working two jobs that didn’t pay much, and all the while taking care of his responsibilities as an elder. And my mom did her part also. Doing odds jobs to bring in extra money and taking care of the house and preparing our meals and pioneering.

But I can see how pre-internet era, it was very difficult to stay informed. You would have some event like this caravan coming to the U.S. and no one seems to have answers.

Then along comes two individuals who open up their bible and show people a very simple solution that requires no work on the part of humans. Such a simple solution! No more worries of whatever comes our way because very soon, God is going to take care of the problems personally.

All a person has to do is support GOD’S KINGDOM!

Yea, I can see a possibility of me falling for this shit if I didn’t have the internet.

I’m seeing my parents in a whole different light.

There are regular civilians who have trained for this very moment. called minutemen. These are former military armed to the tee and are already heading to the various borders These individuals do not work for the government but the Trump administration is not discouraging them to help hold down the border.

These individuals hate illegal immigrants and if anyone starts shooting men, women and whoever gets in the way, it will be these guys. All it will take is one immigrant man to throw a rock or bottle and all hell will break out.

With these guys mixed along with the military, and border patrol agents, no one will know who shot the first shot when all hell breaks loose.

I wasn't even a twinkle thought in my mother's mind. It would still be billions and billions of probabilities that my mom would decided to go to a convention not in her circuit just for fun, and by the same token my dad would also go to a different convention, and by some freaking chance, they bumped into each other and started talking. For some crazy reason they decided to stay n touch and many years later they got together and on a certain night, at a certain time, out of nowhere, I came into existence. And by the time I came out of my mother's womb, 1975 was over two decades in past history. All I know is 1975 has something to do with my parents, but not really sure what all the fuss is about.

You are talking about a different group of jws born in. I was born in and just started my 20s. I figured out about 5 years ago that the WT was a bunch of crap, I'm not alone, most of those my age figured out the same thing. I'm still considered a witness yet I haven't contributed anything, not a penny for five years, and don't plan to.

I seriously doubt that 30 years from now when I hit 50 the WT will even exist. Maybe a little religion like the bible students with about 40 or 50k members. It would be just too embarrassing to be going to a building called a kingdom hall, whether to build or attend, who has been known for predicting that the last days started in 1914, and still building kingdom halls with that idea still alive in the year 2050.

I know there will always be gullible people, but there will never ever be another 8-10 million gullible people believing their "Watchtower is God's Organization" - bullshit.

I Saw An Elder Yesterday Who Told Me 3 Area Kingdom Halls Were Being Dissolved

he said they read the letter to the congregation and were told the kh would be disbanded.

2 other halls in the area were slated for closure.

he said many people in the congregation began crying.

It will be real exciting once there are no more Kingdom Hall meetings to attend.

How Effective Are Anti-JW Internet Sites?

i think that once you get on the internet and you see evidence that shows jehovah’s witnesses do not have the real truth, it can jolt you.

but i don’t think simply going on an internet site typically changes a person’s direction—even if the information is very damning toward the witnesses.

i think it takes time to eventually get out.

I spend most of my time in exjw reddit. About a week ago we got 1000 new subscribers in 36 hours. We are almost reaching 30k subscribers. A lot of the new subscribers relate that they been visiting the site from weeks to about a year and that the site is what helped them wake up. So yes, they do help, but the time varies with each individual. Also circumstances affect the waking up process. JW family still in vs single with non-jw family. In for many years vs in for just a few years. Old timers vs the young generation. There are a lot of variables that affect the waking up process and also a lot of different mind-set personalities.

New releases at annual meeting??

this has been mentioned in passing but it seems to deserve its own thread.. this year at the rc, no releases.

instead they wait to drop them at the annual meeting which isnt a even simulcast event.

Db, your missing the point. It IS a big deal, but only because its when they choose to release it.
I cant buy the editing excuse. They have 50+ years of practice with this. They know how to edit and prepare books for rc release dates.
And again the money thing dosent wash either. They already were not releasing hard copies at conventions. This is a weird weird move.

Morpheus, you would make one hell of a prosecutor, I would hate to have you trying me for some crime. You just keep digging until all the shit comes out.

No it's not a shame. This site is not responsible for supporting any JW's who leave the organization, no one is responsible for another's mistake Except themselves.

Those that leave the organization have to man-up and learn to deal with life and quit being such babies. I was raised in the organization, father an elder and mother a pioneer for years. I never bought into that stuff and swam against the current for years. Now my parents don't attend the meetings. I didn't need this place or any other place to support me, heck, I deal with life on my own.

I come here for entertainment. If there wasn't any debates and "Drama" I wouldn't visit this place. Like when Morpheus and Slim go at it about the organization dying or NOT..

Or when Cofty starts on the subject of evolution and someone like Nimble duck jumps in and calls him on it. You know, without these heated debates and a bit of name calling, people like me wouldn't be interested enough to keep reading the posts and the result would be that we wouldn't pursue any research on our own and come to our own conclusions. We would stay ignorant on several subjects.

Or when the subject of Trump comes up.I love to hear the different views especially since I don't spend much time trying to figure out stuff about Trump.I have no idea if he is doing good or bad for the country. I come here to get both sides of the story and usually under all the bull, there are several that post some good reasonable, logical arguments that I was unaware.

There are a lot of websites that I visit, Non-exjw and some exjw.I don't visit exjw website because I need someone to change my diaper cause Watchtower won't change it anymore. I visit from time to time to learn. Some of the posts are pretty educational.

Don't baby the JWs, or feel sorry for them. There's plenty of information out there from secular sources besides exjw sites. Maybe the old generation needed exjws to hold their hand as they exited the Watchtower, but young ones like me don't need anyone to hold our hands.If you have to baby someone out of the WT organization, maybe you need to let them grow up a bit and they will eventually exit on their own and do fine, with or without exjw sites.

He went from being laid off (and washing the cars of executives) to being a "senior member of the company staff"

And from there he went on to be President of Ghana. Wilson is now negotiating trade commerce with President Trump for a better Ghana.

I can say this about my situation. I live in the U.S.A. All my non-jw family have armed themselves to the tee the past few years. Some of them have taken classes in using firearms, defense and offense tactics. Other of my uncles are retired veterans and know their stuff. They have taken me along and even paid for some of my classes but I can only see and not participate. I still need a few years before I can legally buy a pistol, and get a permit for conceal carry, but I can own one as long as I keep it home.

I can also own my own rifles. My uncles have already bought me a Walther PPQ Q5, and I train at home with dummy rounds.I have been taught how to take the gun apart and put it back together. One of my veteran uncles taught me how to take an AR apart and put it back together. He already got me a lower receiver and wants me to start building my own AR rifle.

Why? Because we expect a civil war to break out or some type of break down of sorts in our country, or at the least, our state. We are preparing ourselves. When I go out with my Uncles, to some large gathering of people, all of them conceal carry, including my aunts. None of them ever go to the movies, restaurant, some festival without their guns. All of them have trained for years. If some crazy person starts shooting people and my uncles and aunts don't get gunned down immediately, they will take that person out in seconds. They are excellent marksmen. The result of years of shooting.

My dad who used to be an elder and doesn't attend anymore just bought his first gun a few months ago. He was so freaking scared, he didn't touch it for weeks and had no bullets. My uncles have been helping him.

I think a civil was will break out in my time, I am still young.
